Description
We now have a new DIGITALLY REMASTERED re-release of this album (2003) with better sound and a few extras (CD-ROM goodies, etc.).
Que Florezca! (Let it Bloom) explores Mexican music through an ancient Aztec legend about the origin of the world and the finding of self, passing through four musical worlds: Concheros, Huapango, Mariachi, and Negritud, and looking into Native, Spanish, and African ethnic roots of Mexican music. The all-acoustic music ranges from the fun and danceable, to the romantic and the mystical, featuring nearly fifty traditional instruments, and a roster of fifteen guest artists that include local harpist Beto Laguna, percussionist Rubn Alvarez, mariachi trumpet player Manuel Cervantes, African master drummer Gideon Foli Alorwoiye, flamenco guitarist Hctor Fernndez, Guillermo Contreras and Gonzalo Camacho from "Grupo Jaranero," and even a brief appearance by Howard Levy on flute. The extensive liner notes give a detailed description of the featured styles and instruments, and lyrics in Spanish with English translations are provided.
Co-produced by Juan Des, Stuart Rosenberg, and Sones de Mxico. The members of the ensemble are: Ren Cardoza, Gonzalo Crdova, Juan Des, Ral Fernndez, and musical director Victor Pichardo.
