Description
Scot Taber is interested in space. "It's often what you don't hear that carries a listener through a song - it's the minimalist approach," he says. This may sound strange coming from a songwriter who is also an accomplished guitarist, but perhaps it's for this very reason that he's careful about what he calls "cluttering up" a song.
On new release "Gone," Taber has continued his mini-tradition of "space," mixing finely nuanced guitar work with an intelligent, literary style of songwriting. Although reminiscent of his ealier work, which has touched upon disparate World colors, from reggae to jazz to latin styles, 2002's "Gone" is his most straightforward alternative pop album to date. His smooth, resonant vocals and artful songwriting have earned comparisons to such Alt-Pop acts as Toad the Wet Sprocket, Bob Schneider, Sting, Jeff Buckley - and even U2 for his ambient, atmospheric guitar style.
