Description
Lyrical. Flowing. Dynamic. Beautiful.
Enduring the Chicago music scene with past bands (Miss Erie, The Purest Vine, Trine) singer, songwriter, guitarist Troy Michael Petty heads this alternative vision with
permanent resident drummer, Jay Will (Teen Alien, Trine).
Troy paints introspective pictures of isolation, love and the struggles of the human spirit. Echoing guitars and a deep rhythm section surround emotionally stirring vocals putting Troy in similar arenas as Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Mazzy Star and Nick Drake.
Since 2000, Troy has remained active in the local Chicago scene with credit to premier clubs like Double Door, The Metro, The Note and Subterranean Caf. Troy has captured an intimate audience as an acoustic act in clubs like The Pontiac, Wise Fool's Pub and other venues as part of WXRT/JAM Production's live music series.
In the fall of 2001, Troy released the full- length album titled "So the past shall pass" recorded at Blue Room Studio in Chicago. It has since gathered credits in two indie films including the 2005 premiere of "Black Days", produced by Michael Urnikis.
" Almost every one of Past's odes is gorgeous and echoey, punctuated by enough eerie falsetto to make you melt many times over" - E. Lenhard, Chicago Magazine
Among recent success, troy has just released the new double album "Gemini". The album showcases one 'electric' and one 'acoustic' disc representing the two sides of troy's creative explorations.
2005 brings some regional and national promotional touring to this solo/three piece act. The Gemini is coming....
" A potential visionary rather than just another self-reflective tunesmith." - Jim Derogotis, Chicago Sun Times
