Description

Velvida is a groove-oriented, downtempo band composed of four players.

Three of these members switch instruments on-stage(drums, bass, guitar, etc.).

Three of the tracks on the album are instrumental(Blaxploitation-esque) while the rest incorporate a Floyd-esque vocal style.

One way to describe their sound might be "Pink Floyd meets Funkadelic and/or Curtis Mayfield." In general, the music has a stoney/loungey quality.

Instruments include wah-wah/fuzz guitar, Rhodes piano, Clavinet, Hammond, Moog, and, of course, bass and drums.

Many groove styles are evident--including latin jazz, bossa nova, and rock-steady R&B.

The band plays lounge-oriented clubs in downtown Los Angeles.
