11 bands completely disrespect classic songs by The Police. You'll want to check out this disc to hear how these bands had the audacity to screw up your favorite Police songs or to hear how they breathed new life into songs you didn't know you liked. The Solarmanite staff deliberately sought out bands that would put an original spin on the Police's well-known songs and instructed them to go as far out with it as they wanted to. "It kind of felt like we were commissioning art," explains label head, Megan Wendell. "Some bands took it farther than others, but it was exciting as they started turning in their tracks. We ended up with a really varied but still cohesive record." When Solarmanite Records first announced the project, emails from interested bands started pouring in. The final group consists of bands from all over the country and represent some of the best indie bands in the U.S.
