Description
Noam Weinstein has been called everything from "a thrilling songwriter" (The Nashville Rage) to "a young Elvis Costello mixed with Randy Newman" (PasteMusic) to "a talent who croons lovely, subtle songs" (The Boston Globe) to "a thrilling songwriter" (The Nashville Rage again). The editors at Time Out New York heard echoes of Harry Nilsson in his songs, while other folks mention Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, or The Band. But one thing is clear: Music is the food of love.
Born in 1977, Noam grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he began playing guitar at the age of eight and performing at venues such as Club Passim and The House of Blues as a teenager. In the summer of '99 he headed for New York City, where he became involved in the Greenwich Village songwriters exchange led since the '70s by Jack Hardy. In addition to singing his own material at area clubs, he continued working as an electric guitarist accompanying other songwriters (most often Greta Gertler and Jess Tardy, two incredible artists who have also recorded Noam's songs).
In 2001 Noam released his debut EP, the award-wanting Enough About You. In 2002 he followed it up with Above the Music, which receives airplay on stations like WFUV in New York and WERS in Boston. Live appearances include South by Southwest in Austin, CMJ and The Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City, and clubs in Boston, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco, D.C., and London. In October '03 Noam embarked on his first foreign tour, to Ireland (a small country in Western Europe). Back in his birth nation, he recently completed his first full-length album, Probably Human, co-produced by friend / engineer / pianist Tyler Wood. To learn more please visit eNoam.com.
