Description
These guys are getting funkier all the time -- and have issued a killer second album that's even better than the first! The set's got a warm, wonderful, California jazz funk feel -- a rich blend of Latin and soul instrumental styles, played in modes that recall classic work by the JBs, El Chicano, and War -- but updated nicely, with a fresh, young, underground feel. The group have definitely got their instrumental chops honed well on the set -- as they've been playing together for years in the CA underground, and slide together with ease as a rich ensemble outfitted with guitar, trumpet, saxes, keyboards, and percussion -- plus some very nice use of loops and soundbits from time to time.
