Review from Enigma Magazine 3/18/04
Next up is Brad Passons debut "Setup for Failure." After the first two tracks, I began to get a feel for what kind of animal I was dealing with here. In those tracks, "Jerk" and "Don't Wanna Mess It Up", I got the feeling that Brad is the epitome of the "man and his guitar" types. I would not say that he is one of those sappy folk singers though. He is more of the Jack Johnson/Dave Matthews types that focuses his efforts on quality songwriting instead of concentrating on the music. The songs on the disc are very mature in nature and he definitely has a way with words in describing lost love, self-reflection, and new beginnings. I was thoroughly impressed with his singing voice. Like I said before, he has this Jack Johnson thing going for him, but he also has a Coldplay/soft-core side to him that kind of rounds out the sound in a wholesome kind of way. Pretty much, the entire CD is just him with his acoustic guitar. This is a great way to relax after a long day. It has a soothing quality because of the light and airy sound. I reccomend this CD if you are into the laid back type of artist. "
