Description
This recording showcases the talents of guitarist and sequencer Rick Dorr. Rick's compositional style is rather unique, often fusing seemingly unrelated genres together as is evidenced in the opening track; "B minor tune". The song opens with a heavy hip-hop beat that is accompanied by piano and swelling strings. Then, it cuts into a raging guitar solo. After a breakdown, it moves into a beautiful classical movement. The original beat returns and then the piece concludes with a Sergei Rachmaninoff influenced piano cadenza.
Rick is self taught and didn't start playing until the age of 19. He began by jamming to Grateful Dead bootlegs and before long was studying John Coltrane and Claude Debussy. In college he was heavily influenced by an unknown virtuoso whom he had the good fortune of befriending. He records at a frenetic pace and has been know to write over fifty songs in a single week. Rick is a rare and truly gifted musician and needs to be heard.
