Description
Need some music to help you create a "Shabbat mood"?
Sacred Space: Melodies to Welcome Shabbat , is overflowing with tunes to help the listener ease into the Jewish Sabbath. The melodies range from traditional (including three traditional melodies for L'Cha Dodi) to "modern classics" written by Craig Taubman, Shlomo Carlebach, and Jeff Klepper.
This is truly "music to bake challah by". We looked for melodies that would help spirit the listener out of the frenzy of the weekday world and into a more peaceful state of mind. We included only our favorite tunes, the ones we find ourselves humming long after services are over. Unlike other instrumental works of Shabbat music, we kept our arrangements simple, so the melodies would speak for themselves.
SpiriTune features Michael Buonaiuto on the hammered dulcimer. He is backed by Beth Levin on guitar, who is the cantorial soloist at Temple Shir Tikvah in Winchester, Massachusetts. Bassist Jon Dreyer rounds out the trio.
