Description
These original songs have been written over the course of my life, from when I met my wife back in 1976 through today. "In The Moment" tells how our relationship has changed over the course of our lives. "Miss My Girl" is about my daughter Bethany's travels to LA to pursue an acting career. "Memories of You" is about my daughter Hillary growing up, turning 18 and thinking about leaving. "You Say" is about a fight my wife and I had and the repercussions of that fight as we worked through our difficulties. "Time Will Stand Still (Jessie's Song)" tells about Hillary's best friend moving away.
I have done a lot of youth work through my church (I am a Unitarian Universalist - UU) in the last 10 years. Many of my songs were inspired by events relating to youth. "Try" describes how I felt when the congregation was not trusting our youth to do anything, and pleads with the congregation to listen. "Be.", the title song, is the philosophy I try to bring to the youth -- be yourself, or be happy, or be present -- you get the picture.
I have played guitar for over 25 years, and have never really made a living doing it -- I make my living as a CPA for a private company.
It was the youth in the YRUU (Young Religious Unitarian Universalists) who inspired me to pick up the guitar again. Its how I connect with the youth -- through my music. So, with this CD, I am thanking all of the youth who, while I was trying to help them work through their problems, really helped me to find my spirituality and work through many of my problems.
Thanks to you all and please enjoy the CD!!
