Description
"What do you get when you cross a social worker, a biofeedback therapist, a teacher, an entrepreneur and a chef, then you throw in the usual guitars and bass and the not-so-requisite congas and banjo, add kick-ass three part harmonies, hot licks and a backbeat that won't quit? You might wind up with a heady concoction that'll knock your socks off, better known as Strange Heroes....... There's a literary term ascribed to writers like Mailer and Hemingway: muscular prose. If there's a musical equivalent it might be something like 'groove with guts'. Get four middle age rock and roller guys anchored to the beat of a woman who swears she's too young to have a history and all hell breaks loose. In a good way. Danceable beat, singable lyrics--Steinbeck meets Dr. Suess, with the ghost of Jim Morrison chiming in. Titles like Under the Tundra, Bibles and Guns, and Dark of the Moon reveal tales about arctic investment schemes gone bad, sidewalks cracking from the sheer weight of sexual heat, the checkout line at the New Age Company Store: these are subjects worth singing about. Or shouting about.... Sexy, politically savvy. Above all, genuinely heartfelt. Somehow it all comes together in the mix. ............."
