Description
In 1980 Mark formed the trio "Docter Jazz And Sons" (See cover photo),
Patrick (nine) on clarinet, and Richard (eight) on trombone.
The audio cassette, "Jazz BBQ At Narooma", was recorded in 1982.
It was transcribed to CD off the 10 inch masters in 2001.
Live drummer, Allan Smith and Guitar, Bruce Clarke, were added to new masters.
Production and mixing were done by Richard, (now a sound mixer).
On the first track, the happy little trio burst into "DOCTOR JAZZ",
The rendition is transcribed from Jelly Roll Morton's "Red Hot Peppers" album.
Patrick, now eleven, ably handles the OMER SIMEON intro and low register first chorus.
Richard, now ten, does his gravel voice vocal in the second chorus.
Patrick soars through the high register passages with Richard doing
the Jelly Roll piano solo on his trombone.
Richard leads the exciting finale with an Oryesque high Bb.
The other eight tracks are equally brimming with brilliance.
Listen to Richard on the ballad, "WHAT'S NEW"
Patrick does a lovely job on the Johnny Dodds solo in "COPENHAGEN".
Check them all out. These kids enjoyed their work. Join them! Enjoy yourself!
