"Wicked Gift is a Wicked Pleasure" Kent Kimes, The Sun News
Following the successful release of singer/songwriter Phil Fox's solo album "Songs for Nocturna" in 2001, bassist Jamie Murmann and drummer Scott Watkins decided to make the temporary arrangement permanent by forming a new group to perform the recorded material live. Stuck for a distinctive soloist, at length they persuaded electric violinist Rebecca Dawkins to strike up the bow on their behalf, and so Wicked Gift was born.
"I started out as a relatively straight-forward pop songwriter," Fox says, "but as the world has become more twisted my writing has twisted right along with it". With a sound that owes nothing to Metallica and still less to Green Day, Wicked Gift are proud to have crawled out on their own evolutionary limb. "Twisted Pop, I can live with that, I like "hooky" stuff. By the time you find out exactly what you've been hooked by, it just might be too late".
