Description
The songs on this CD range from traditional British Isles and Appalachian material like The Cuckoo, Lady Diamond and Doffing Mistress, to typical American fare like Buffalo to Troy and Santa Fe Trail, to great contemporary material like Charlie King's Are You Now Or Have You Been and Anne's own My Time. It's simple, acoustic, honest music, with unadorned production and a real "folkie" feel.
Anne Price was born and raised in New York City. She has been performing since 1979 in coffeehouses, schools, libraries, political benefits, and festivals. She is also a long-time Executive Board member of The New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club. Anne Price is also a member of MacDougal Street Rent Party , with Steve Suffet , Joel Landy , Eric Levine and Gina Tlomsa.
Anne is accompanied on this CD by multi-instrumentalist Allen Hopkins on guitar banjo, mandolin, mandola, concertina baritone concertina, harmonica and dobro. Allen lives in Rochester NY and plays with many groups.
This CD includes moving songs about labor in coal mines and textile mills, about truck drivers and cowboys and hobos and canal boaters, about unions and tragic love, and about getting old contentedly. The title song Remember Me is dedicated to the memory of Anne's late singing partner, Marilyn Maltzer, with the hope that some Anne will be similarly remembered.
"This is the very best kind of music produced in America today - organic, honest, personal, and unaffected."
-Bill Feagin

- Dirty Linen Magazine
"Anne Price is well known to NYPFMC members for her lovely voice and sensitive accompaniments to songs both traditional and self-penned. She also has a wicked sense of humor."
- New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club Newsletter
"Surely among the most beautiful folk voices being heard today . . . She is a terrific songwriter as well as a wonderful singer."
- Joanne Davis
