Description
Ben Rogers Band became Marwood in 2001:
Marwood is Benji Rogers (vocal/guitar), Rob Overbey (guitar/vocal), Brett
Conti (bass/vocal) and John O'Reilly Jr. (drums). The band is based in New
York City's East Village with roots spanning from Tennessee to Europe. This
diverse quartet came together in 2002 and performs all over NYC at venues
including The Knitting Factory and The Mercury Lounge, and most recently
sold out downtown venues The Village Underground and Pianos.
Marwood's music might be described as alternative-pop-meets-guitar-rock, or
alternative-rock-meets-guitar-pop or alt-pop-tart...or something like that.
At the core, the band will simply say it's good rock & roll. Fans will add
that it's driving rhythms combined with memorable tunes they hum long after
the song ends.
Radio stations are quickly catching on . The track "Souless" has gotten
spins on NYC's Q104.3 (Clear Channel), where Marwood was named one of the
top local bands of 2002. In April of 2003, the band was #3 on the top 30
spins list at WCWP in New York.
In September '02 Marwood signed with Home Office Records, and in February
'03 released an EP entitled "Radio Personalities." The EP incorporates
studio acoustic as well as live electric tracks. A follow-up EP is due this
summer, with a full-length album to follow. The band's first full-length,
"Regular Fips" (2002), is set to go into its second pressing, while touring
plans are in the works.
Watch out for Marwood - you can't miss 'em!
