Description
Alison Lee Freeman is a singer/songwriter and chantey singer with an extraordinary voice easily heard over gale force winds. She is known for her captivating harmonies and sense of humor. In performance the saucy balladeer mixes original acoustic rock songs, traditional folk songs, and standards. Her song, "Alison's Saab Story", which has been played on NPR's Car Talk, chronicles her history with cars and is set to a traditional sea chantey melody.
Freeman performs regularly in Maine and Massachusetts as a solo performer. She was previously a member of Roll & Go, a Portland, ME based group which specializes in sea chanteys. She also works with guitarist Austin Nevins (Armadillos, Dennis Brennan, Jess Klein) as the duo Heaven Street (formerly Charlies Girlfriend) and is a member of the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston.
