If you like Chris de Burgh, Neil Diamond, Richard Marx, Chris Rea and Hall & Oates - you will love this 16 track CD by Andy Martin.
A NUMBER ONE album for 2 consecutive months (Jan/Feb 05) in the independent Top 40 chart of www.AiiRadio.net (London/U.K.) Andy is a featured GOLD ARTIST nominee at: www.RadioIndy.com/California
CURRENT CHARTS: ARTISTOPIA.com MIDNIGHT BLUE #3 and ROCKIN ON THE AIRWAVES at #10! (Easy listening chart). MIDNIGHT BLUE charts at #5 and ALL FIRED UP at #21 on INDEPENDENTARTISTSCOMPANY.com plus high chart action for ANOTHER NIGHT IN CHICAGO - now at #3 on AiiRadio.net
From his debut public performance of WALTZING MATILDA - at 7 years of age! - to the present day, Andy has gone on to perform in prestige venues such as Sun City in Southern Africa and was the resident musician/entertainer at Stringfellows Nightclub in Covent Garden, London (1994/95). Andy was also a regular performer (twice weekly) at Ciros Pomodoro, 51 Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, London. (www.pomodoro.co.uk)
Other prestige UK venues where Andy has appeared include Blazers Club in Windsor and at the invitation of Baronet Sir Dai Llewellyn to perform at his London club 'The Embassy' in Knightsbridge. More recently, he was asked to play for members of the Boeing family during 2004 and has been re-booked for their summer gala in 2005.
AWARDS: He has won several awards for his songwriting.
These include a SARIE nomination for his No.15 single PERFECT SIGNS b/w BLUE GUITAR (MINC 1985) and 1st place in the Australian annual World Pater Awards (1992) sponsored by Radio Australia, Mushroom Records and The Victorian Rock Foundation in Melbourne.
In the UK, Andy was the outright winner of the 2CR Radio 'Starsearch' contest - the finals being held at the Bournemouth Winter Gardens in front of a capacity audience. He had no hesitation in performing one of his own songs GO NOW and this performance secured him 1st place.
In 1985 he wrote the radio jingle for Canadian Pacific Airways and in 1994 scored 2 album cuts in Australia on the SONY/COLUMBIA and MUSHROOM/FESTIVAL labels. One of these songs, HEART DONT BREAK was chosen for newcomer T.C. Cassidy from New Zealand and produced in Sydney by Garth Porter, ex-keyboard player of the 70's hit group 'Sherbet' (who scored an international No.1 record with their song HOWZAT).
Essentially Andy is a live performer and has performed for 3 cruise lines - TT Lines (Australia), P&O (UK) and SAFLEISURE (Cape Town). He has also entertained in numerous 5 star international hotels which include The Cape Sun in Cape Town, The Johannesburger, The Cascades Hotel (Sun City) and in Australia, The Melbourne Hilton. In Spain, 5 star hotels include The Tenerife Princess, Hotel Jacaranda, The Bougainville Playa, The Las Vegas and on the Spanish island of Gomera - the 400 room Hotel Tecina owned by Norwegian company Fred Olsen. This was preceded by an 18 month spell on the Costa Del Sol.
On the cabaret and show circuit, Andy has appeared with Smokey Robinson, Peter Sarstedt, Emile Ford, The Marmalade, Joe Longthorne, The Rockin' Berries, Hot Chocolate, Lenny Henry, The Real Thing and even The Bay City Rollers! Andy bought his first stage suit from Mike Sheridan of The Nightriders fame! These names may not be so contemporary now - but they have all been big stars and to have worked with names such as these does prove that Andy has earned the priveledge, having also learned his stage-craft as a performer.
Andy has been featured on radio in Australia, The UK and Spain and has of course also appeared on television. He was a regular guest on 'In Melbourne Today' and also appeared on GMTV Channel 10 in Sydney when he was officially presented with a World Pater Award for his winning song SAVE THE WORLD, reflecting public concern on environmental issues. (A very famous recipient of a World Pater Award is Sir Bob Geldof!)
Andy was chosen to entertain a delegation of US Senators from The White House on a goodwill visit to Cape Town during 1985 and this was in the company of President Botha of South Africa and other dignitaries.
COSMOPOLITAN MAGAZINE chose him as the sole entertainer for their annual 'Crystal Ball' in Johannesburg the same year. During 1997, Andy re-located to the Canary Islands where he quickly established himself as one of the most sought after entertainers. He was offered more cruise work with Royal Carribbean-Celebrity Cruise lines (USA), but declined so as to concentrate on the completion of his debut CD, entitled INTERVALS.
The first single from the album, ROCKIN ON THE AIRWAVES, has notched up serious airtime in Holland, whilst in the UK, the same track was playlisted by Aiiradio.net and went to No.1 (twice!) in the stations independent chart. To acknowledge this achievement, the station added the song to their Hall Of Fame. A second track, WATERFRONT STREET, also hit the No.1 slot in the chart whilst the CD charted at No.2 (www.aiiradio.net/London UK) then to No.1 on January 27th 2005.
Driven by his love and lifelong commitment to music, Andy writes with a depth and insight that is honest and sincere. Some of his songs were chosen for inclusion on the worlds largest website devoted to poet and philosopher KAHLIL GIBRAN (www.kahlil.org)
Perhaps the greatest accolade of all is from fellow artistes and music colleagues. Legendary singer-songwriter PETER SARSTEDT wrote the first review of the Intervals CD, which is a marvellous endorsement indeed.
This loyalty and acceptance by his peers, as well as his audiences around the world, have been synonymous in Andys life. During 2004, Andy accepted an offer of personal management and now resides in Europe, appearing in Switzerland, Holland and Germany.
