Description
Those Hershey, Pennsylvania pop rockers The April Skies return with a new full length CD entitled "Flood".
Long known for their sense of atmosphere and ethereal textures, jangly rickenbacker guitars, spacey keyboard washes, rich acoustics, delayed Edge-like guitar riffs, and the driving rhythm section - the 'skies' have delivered 10 new songs here that are sure to reach, engulf and consume music fans of any style. "Flood" was produced by Jeff Feltenberger (The Badlees), engineered by Jason Shaffer and mixed by Tom "T-Bone" Edmonds. Together with the 'skies' they have molded a piece of work that is sure to bring The April Skies the national and international recognition they have long deserved.
"...the most innovative and incendiary use of "yeah, yeah, yeah" since The Beatles took the word "yeah" out of slang and put it in the ears of the world. This would be the song "Crutch" and it's just one of the ten new tracks which appear on The April Skies soon-to-be-released CD, "Flood".
- Pennsylvania Musician Magazine Cover story (Feb 2005)
"...Songs like "You Are the One", "Long Way Down" and "A Game" are destined to become college radio hits. The melodies have a decidedly British twist (like tunes by Robyn Hitchcock), with a snappy rhythms and vintage keys. Crawford's voice is hard to nail down; he's influenced by 80's new wave and British indie rock, but his delivery is more soulful than whimsical. Think of Julian Cope with more backbone".
- Carla DiFonzo, The Lancaster Intelligencer
