Description
Adult contemporary original piano music with influences by jazz, classical, church music, movie music and rock.
"Becky Archibald's impressionistic piano pieces rest somewhere in between Bill Evans, Chopin and a more exciting George Winston." (Listen.com)
"I'm not sure if the local music community realizes what a jewel in Becky they have in their midst." (Bryan Austin Whitney, founder of Just Plain Folks Music Awards--jpfolks.com)
"A very interesting composer. . .very much in the mode of the Brickmans, Jim Chappell, and David Lanz." (Chuck Workman, WTPI)
Composer/pianist Becky Archibald weaves a passion for the piano and her knowledge of music into her original compositions. She seeks depth and integrity in her creative work, setting aside academic notions of what music ought to be and listening for resonances within. Archibald's first composition, "Searching," written in 1997 as a gift for her mom, became the title track of her debut CD, which was nominated for Best Instrumental CD in the Just Plain Folks Album Awards, 2000. Her music is heard on jazz, classical and New Age stations, as well as on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."
