Description
Not the "poor man's Tool" by the same name, this band was instead influenced by the likes of: DEVO, Butthole Surfers, CAN, Black Flag, SWANS, E.N., COIL, Residents, No Means No, Ministry, Big Black.
Formed in 1989, E.A.R.S.H.O.T. spent their high school years on Cape Cod, MA, formulating these songs during hundreds of shows all over the NorthEast. Quickly bored with their hardcore roots and geeks by nature, they experimented with tape loops, field recordings, and home-made percussion and electronic equipment.
Subsequent travels saw E.A.R.S.H.O.T. playing with many bands during the 1990's: Green Day, King Missile, Chumbawumba, Crash Worship, Alice Donut, Green Magnet School, SHIV, Glazed Baby, Holy Cow, Chilmark, Dagobah, The Laurels, Toxic Popcicle, Iowa Beef Experience, and Six Finger Satellite.
The band also ran an underground club for several years on Cape Cod known as the Googleplex, offering cheap all-ages shows of touring bands, DJs and movie screenings.
The album includes rough tracks recorded in Steve Albini's flooded basement in Chicago, home 4-track and DAT mixes, and a week-long recording session with Mark A Miller at Wendell Studio in Western MA. The final mix and mastering was done at West End Studio in Kansas City, MO by Paul Malinowski (SHINER) and Joel Hamilton (Player's Club/Book of Knots).
