Description
"Ma3D" aka Craig H. Butler came from the nickname Mad Dog given to him as a child for his mad facial expressions.
As his lyrics were heard the name came to describe the way he is as a mad man on the mic.
He was born at San Bernardino Community Hospital to Clyvia Jones.
Ma3D was raised by his maternal grandma, Dorothy Jones.
Although raised in a very strict and religious home, he grew up around the gangsta, dope dealers and pimps of Gilbert Street.
At age 16 Ma3D started hanging out with this crowd and began getting into trouble.
He started selling drugs and after almost getting busted, realized that this lifestyle was not him.
Using his music as a tool, and armed with his God given talent and gift, he let his music be his motivation to building a future for himself.
Although life challanges did not keep him completely out of trouble, Ma3D found himself in and out of jail, but he kept his music as his focus.
"I found myself in music. That was me." he told in his interview with Cookie from Cheers Nightclub in Moreno Valley.
The desire to rap was not a new one to Ma3D.
He would often battle at school and attended many rapping functions.
In his earlier days he danced for rap artist and even opend up for D J Quick and Second to None at the Chris Davis nightclub in Rialto.
Although Ma3D tore up the stage with his dance moves, he knew it was on the mic that he would really shine.
Ma3D got his chance to showing his talent when he was featured with various artists around San Bernardino and Los Angeles.
He then began performing solo at places in Southern California such as Incahoots, the underground Moet, and the Marine base in San Diego.
Ma3D formed a group with his cousin and his best friend called Criminals and Hustlers, better known as C&H.
Although the group is no longer together, Ma3D has much love for it and is still representing as seen by his tattoo he sports with the groups name.
On New Years Eve 2002, he brought down the house as the opening act for, "Ludacris" in a coast to coast event at the All American Sports Park in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Although Ma3D always works hard in the secular world, his love and passion is music.
He also enjoys basketball and producing music.
He also has plans of someday owning his own restaurant and clothing line.
Ma3D is mor then a rapper and will most likely move into movies and acting because he loves to entertain.
Ma3D is, and will continue to be true to his heart, family and self.
His album debut "Like Booom" provides a light into Ma3D's world that will not be extinguished.
