Description
Eight years since the release of his debut record, Michael Hayes has earned respect as one of Boston's best songwriters. "How it Feels" provides an early look at Hayes, whose late start as a songwriter came at age 26. Now out of print in hard copy, this album is finally available electronically at iTunes - if you don't have this amazing music program, get it now! It's wonderful.
Michael has gone on to form bands Lemonpeeler and the Vinyl Skyway. Lemonpeeler's 2001 release "The First Time" was nominated for a Boston Music Award for Best Indy Label Debut and features seven of his songs. The band completed a U.S. tour of 18 cities to support the success of "The First Time" in the fall of 2001. The group's second album turned out to be a six song EP entitled the Woolly Sessions, the end result of a tumultuous break-up of the original band's lineup.
From all of his albums, Michael's songs have been selected to appear in three independent films (respectively, Astronomy of Errors, The Gypsy Years and A Touch of Fate starring Teri Hatcher). Michael plans to pursue more work in the film industry, already marketing songs from his latest release from October 2004 with the Vinyl Skyway. The new group's self-titled album has received press accolades, airplay on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and even opened for Grammy Award nominee Tift Merritt this past fall. Michael's Vinyl Skyway is already working on a second album of new material for release in 2005.
