Description
After playing keyboards and singing in various hard rock acts in the early 90's, Andrea Hector burst on the Vancouver scene with her own material -- and bass guitar -- in 1995. The act? Liquid Amber.
Following the critically acclaimed release of "Breed", Liquid Amber's debut, Andrea received ample recognition and some major-label interest. However, a lineup change in 1998 brought LIQUID AMBER to a crossroads; Andrea decided to take the bull by the horns and start something totally different, groovy and true to her own Sabbath-meets-Bjork musical leanings. Hector, with Andrea on vocals, electronics and bass, was born.
Hector recorded a four-song demo at Profile, Tridon and Hush studios in Vancouver in the summer of 1999. Involved in the studio production of this demo were such notable Vancouver musicians as Jerry Wong (Damn the Diva), Brad McGiven (DSK, Tridon) and Sean Chikara (Red Sugar). Live performers now include Masterbeater Bina (Queasy) and go-go girl/ fire-eater K.K.
At her most recent gig at the Purple Onion in Vancouver in December '99, Hector drew one of the largest Sunday-night audiences of the club's history; she blew them away with her sexy and aggressive stage presence and considerable musical chops.
Hector is interested in exploring combinations of musical genres and unconventional mixing methods.
