Description
Kevin Hiatt, born in 1956 in Kansas City,Kansas is the composer of more than eighty works of concert music ranging from string quartets, to electronic, and orchestral music.
He earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in 1986 and since that time his works have been performed in the United States and Europe to great aclaim.
His concert music has been described as "hauntingly beautiful" and "sensual in the extreme".
In 1996 he returned to performing on the steel string guitar and has written a large body of music for six, seven, and twelve string guitars utilizing open tunings, two handed tapping, and other non traditional playing techniques.
His music in this genre can be compared to such artists as John Fahey, Leo Kottke, and Michael Hedges, but is at the same time his own unique expression.
Kevin Hiatt is one of a few artists who brings a genuine classical compositional technique to the practice of American Fingerstyle Guitar!
