Description
John Sprague is an improviser on flutes, piano, and percussion whose music derives from years working in the field of modern and improv dance. His work is also inspired by deep contemplation and a life of listening to improvisational music from around the world. John has worked with such musicians as Tony Vacca, Sun Ra, David Wertman, Stephen Katz, and David Reck.
"Dancing Worlds" is a collaboration with percussionist and pianist Peter Jones, an hour-long musical journey through many worlds of sound, mood, and style. The album is designed for use in dance classes, personal journeys, and everyday listening. World percussions, soaring flutes, and jamming piano create an uplifting tapestry of sound and spirit. This music is deep and timeless, recalling the traditions of musicians from all over the world jamming together with respect and joy.
"John, I've been really appreciating this album. I play it almost everyday for my personal movement workouts."-- Steve Leicash, master drummer.
"My kids say, 'mom, play the one with the real drums.' We all love it and dance around the house together." -- Eve, dancer and mother.
