Description
The Often Ensemble is a musical collaboration between Johann Helton (guitar, bass, synthesizer) and Chalazon Clark (flute, saxophone) that had its beginnings at the University of Idaho in 1972.
Veterans of countless gigs on both coasts, the two Idaho natives returned to Idaho in 1986.
'Mosaic' is their first new album since 'Goddess Country' (1996).
The emphasis of The Often Ensemble is always on the music and musical story-telling.
The songs on 'Mosaic' range from up and toe-tapping ('Inspiration', 'Foyer Love') to dreamy ('Sarasvati', 'Sunrise/Woman Who Made Love With the Wind').
Not Jazz, Rock or New Age, the music incorporates elements of each.
Subsequent listenings reveal more of the depth and intricacy of these musical conversations.
Melodic, colorful, interesting and original, the more than 70 minutes of instrumental music on 'Mosaic' is a feast for the listener who is hungry for songs of substance!
