"Country music is BIG, real BIG. I think there are miles and miles of undiscovered and uncharted territory in country music." This is how Mobile, Al native, Jon Miller, describes the music that he loves. It was also his quest to discover some of these places when he started picking and recording the songs for MORE. When he started looking through all of his original songs, he decided to ignore conventional wisdom and avoid recording any SAD songs. He says, "I have such a great life! I have a wonderful family, great friends, an ongoing relationship with God, what in the world do I have to complain about?" While it may seem rather strange for a country singer to sing and write positive songs exclusively, for Jon it's simply a reflection of his own life. He prides himself on writing and recording music that reflects and genuinely expresses his own life. With that in mind he challenged himself to write and sing a collection of songs that were not only positive and energetic but also reflective and surprisingly meaningful at times.
MORE is the new CD by Jon Miller that was recorded in Nashville at Marrs Recording Studio. Jon, along with country music veteran, Larry Marrs, finished producing the new CD in April of this year after multiple trips to Music City dating back to November of last year. The Co-producer of the CD, Larry Marrs learned the ropes in country music by playing in bands with Marty Stuart, Randy Travis, and Big Kenny of Big & Rich while recording in studios with Martina McBride, George Jones, Sara Evans, and Tracy Byrd just to name a few. Overall, Marrs was very impressed with Miller's talent, especially his songwriting skills and enjoyed working in the studio with Jon. Many people on the Gulf Coast have become familiar with Jon over the last few years from his many performances he has opened for major country acts at BayFest including The Charlie Daniels Band and has played the last few years down in Gulf Shores, Al for the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. He also has become recognizable in the area from his local cable access TV show which he hosts and produces called "Country Twang TV Show." On the show he introduces the hottest country music videos with a small group of his friends from his garage in Mobile, AL. Miller sums up the show by saying, "It's like Wayne's World meets CMT. My neighbors are never quite sure what we're going to do next over here!"
Included with the CD is also a bonus DVD which contains music videos for "It's Not Me, It's You" and "No Boundaries". Jon says, "The whole concept of the CD was really to give people MORE than what they would expect from an independent artist. I wanted to go to great lengths to do this by recording with Nashville studio musicians and by including music videos in the bonus DVD. The idea was really to go all out." The videos were directed by his friend, director, Mark Moorer in Orlando, Florida. MORE promises to be a stepping stone to bigger things to come for Jon Miller in Music City.
