FARRAGINE

FARRAGINE is a collection of eight poems and eight short piano pieces based on those works. This audio collection is part of a larger multimedia work by Italian painter, Carlo Arcesi, that includes paintings, spoken word, and solo piano works based on the poetry of the late, Caterina Nagliatti.

ALLO SPECCHIO

Nello stagno
l'acqua piatta
verde immobile.
invitante
come un tappeto
di velluto.
Ma sul fondo,
tra l'erba
putrida
e la fanghiglia
s'annida
l'artiglio della morte.

Io sono
come quest'acqua:
serena e dolce
alla superficie.
Ma nel mio spirito,
come un polipo
gigante,
immobile
in attesa,
pronta a snodare
i suoi tentacoli,
sosta la Morte.


AMORE IMPOSSIBILE

Hai tinto di rosso
il mio tramonto,
giovane amico,
e l'ultimo tratto
della mia strada
verso l'infinito.


IL COLORE DELLA MORTE

Uno ad uno
la vita
ha strappato
i veli neri
che avvolgevano
la morte.

Oggi, per me,
la morte
ha il colore
rosato dell'aurora.
Aurora di speranze
deluse,
aurora di sogni
perduti,
aurora d'amore
finito.

Ho riposto
ancora per poco
la morte
in un cassetto:
ogni discoide
rosato
reca impresso
il suo nome.

Ed il suo volto
quello
della libert:


IL MURO

Dietro un muro
di speranze
di sogni
di desideri
ho barricato
la mia vita.

Al di l
c'era il futuro.

Ora il tempo
mi trascina
oltre quel muro
inconsistente.
E non trovo

Non ci sono

RIMPIANTO

La vita
a vent'anni
un frammento
di cielo.
quasi
a portata
di mano.
La vedi,
la sfiori:
gi tua!
La cogli
se vuoi,
Ma rimandi
a domani;
un domani
che attendi
e che sfugge,
che illude
e delude.
La vita
tutta
un'attesa.
Rimane alla fine
quel pezzo
di cielo,
freddo
distante
incupito
da nuvole nere.
E scopri
che oggi ...
... gi ieri.


RINUNCIA

Figlio,
ti ho regalato
un atto d'amore
infinito:
ti ho rifiutato.
Ti avrei partorito
un gemello
e sarebbe stato
al tuo fianco
di giorno
di notte
per tutta la vita.
Ti avrebbe difeso
dagli altri
ma non da te stesso:
avrei generato
un coltello.

Non chiedo perdono
d'averti negato
la luce.
Ti ho fatto
un gran dono.
Oggi

SOLITUDINE

La mia solitudine
ritorna sempre a me
come un boomerang
scagliato nel vento.
La ritrovo, a notte,
nell'ululo di un cane.
Di giorno
nell'ansia della folla.
Nell'inverno
di fronte a una spiaggia
sferzata dalla marea.
Sempre,
nei miei pensieri stanchi.

BIOGRAPHY

JOHN GENTRY TENNYSON

John Gentry Tennyson, pianist/composer and recording artist for Angel/EMI Records began his musical career in New York recording and performing with such diverse artists as Al Di Meola, Hiram Bullock, Will Lee, Rodney Jones, Tom Harrell, Chuck Loeb, Martika, Sophie B. Hawkins, Sarah Brightman and most recently as musical director for BJ Crosby and Jennifer Holliday. John has also toured Europe extensively with his group, the Real World Trio, with guest artists including Randy Brecker and Dewey Redman. He also plays every Monday night at the Iridium Jazz Club with the legendary, Les Paul (for the last 7 years). In addition to his Angel Records CD, Europa, two new European releases, PopJazz (Pop and Jazz Fusion) and Mi Rojita (Latin Piano Trio Music), are forthcoming this Spring and Summer of 2004, respectively. John Gentry Tennyson made his professional debut at age 11 with the University of Houston Symphony and started doing regular gigs at fourteen. His career took off after moving to Manhattan, where he began playing live or studio gigs with jazz greats, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, JJ Johnson, Danny Gottlieb, Mel Lewis, Joe Morello, and Diane Reeves.
