Description
Steve and Kevin, the Kornicki Brothers, are two active musicians in the field of contemporary instrumental music. The brothers are graduates of the Settlement Music School of Philadelphia.
Steve's music draws upon a variety of influences including the intricate counterpoint of Johann Sebastian Bach, the minimalism of Philip Glass and Steve Reich and the melodic-driven jazz-fusion of Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius. As a composer, Steve has written music for various groupings of instruments including classical guitar, flute, string quartet and symphony orchestra. Currently, Steve is composing a set of pieces for orchestra that he is working to have performed within the year.
Kevin has performed with numerous jazz, rock and stage bands throughout his career. Beginning on the drum kit, he quickly moved into more experimental forms of percussion utilizing electronic media and world instruments such as his trademark djembe drum (Africa) and the Latin congas. He is currently a member of Pittsburgh's avant-garde theater group, Squonk Opera and also plays drum kit with John McDonald and His Mango Men. He has toured on a national basis (with Squonk Opera) and is currently moving into the realm of sound recording and design. His energetic performances with Steve incorporate various elements of movement and theater.
