Description
"oh, and the hail", Nyree and Michael's second studio album sounds lush and rich, while maintaining it's acoustic foundations. The arrangements include Michael on bass, piano, guitar, drums, backing vocals, and an assortment of djembe's, congas, and other hand percussion. Nyree sings lead vocals and contributes her distinctive guitar work as well. All songs were co-written by Nyree and Michael Halaas.
"the girl & i" (Nyree Belleville and Michael Halaas), released three albums between 1995 and 1999 and played hundreds of shows--opening for Jewel, CSN, Santana, the Laura Love Band, and Dar Williams. "the girl & i" sound is powerful and unique. Between the two of them, with just their acoustic guitars and some hand percussion, Nyree and Michael won over thousands of fans.
Band members are Nyree Belleville (vocals, guitar) and Michael Halaas (guitar, piano, vocals, percussion, drums, bass). Michael has released 6 solo piano albums including "Birds Can Fly" and "The Lucidity Project" with Joan Jeanrenaud, the grammy winning cellist from the Kronos Quartet.
