Description
The Red Mercury Blues Band is one of Detroit's finest all original rockin' blues outfits! These guys are veterans of Detroit's club circuits and have played in every blues club the city has or had. Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records has said: "some good guitar playing here" and "I like the fact that the band is fun and unpretentious".
Steve Lawson - singer/songwriter/guitarist is the primary vocalist and songwriter for the band. Steve's parents were both big band sax players. His fathers' stage name was Paul Page and was a popular Canadian bandleader who played with greats such as Ella Fitzgerald.
Pat 'Guitar' Grendon - lead guitar - Pat is a Berklee School of music graduate. Detroit's premier entertainment magazine 'Jam Rag' called Pat "one of the finest guitar players in the city". Pat has that 'tone' and vibrato so sought after in the blues world, a world-class blues guitarist.
Dave Jasmund - bass guitar - Dave is a veteran of the smoky clubs and big stages. His considerable bass playing talent won him a spot in Oakland University's music program, which led to a stint in the Oakland / Pontiac Symphony on the upright bass.
Frank Rolfs - drums - At the age of seven Frank was given private lessons in his home on drums. His first 2 years of lessons were strictly snare drum technique. He is certainly on of the country's top blues drummers and has performed with many greats including Gloria Estafan and her band the 'Sound Machine'.
