Description
Alan's new 2004 release, "Down On My Knee" is a powerful collection of moving, inspirational music. It has been called "aggressively inspirational" and "intimate and non-contrived." The raw truthfulness of this music is atypical of the contemporary religious music currently representing the genre. This is music from the heart of one man, with songs of spiritual struggle to spiritual connection, and genre-crossing love songs.
The CD opens with 4 part vocal harmony performed A Capella, and the song "No Getting Over You" features eight part vocal harmony, all performed by Alan. The electric guitar solos feature Alan harmonizing with himself with a melodic flair reminiscent of the band Boston. He performed all vocals and all instruments (except for bass guitar by David McIntire on 5 of the tracks), wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, mastered, and created all the cover art for the project himself. "I wanted a project that represents me."
It does, no doubt.
Performing in the Southeastern circuit for over 15 years, Alan has been the guitar player and singer for several southeastern bands and is a favorite in the studio for his tasteful guitar work and his uncanny ability to vocally harmonize with anyone, mimicing inflection and vibrato. Alan has spent the last 7 years performing acoustic solo shows playing popular new and old songs, and his innovative, powerful originals. He has developed a reputation and following for his heartfelt and talented musical performances.
Alan has also been the entertainment for numerous live remote radio promotions throughout the south. Alan's previous CD, "Hugging On A Tall Antenna" has been featured on Charleston's 96 Wave "Locals Only" program.
Not only does Alan have the respect of his fellow musicians and his fans, he has been recognized by Taylor Guitar Company as a professional musician and has had his heavily used, trademark red jumbo Taylor 615 guitar custom altered by Taylor to his specifications.
"Down On My Knee" is an assortment that will appeal not only to spiritual audiences, but to anyone with a taste for deeply heartfelt musical performances.
