Description
Hey you, casually look over your left should.... What? Yeah, of course I know you, you're the guy that always complains that modern Electronic Music all sounds the same and isn't very challenging... anyway casually look over your left shoulder...See that pile of petrie dishes and bunsen burners? OK just to the right of those see the a guy in a lab coat with the wild hair? (NO! NO! DON'T POINT AT HIM, HE HAS RAY GUNS!) OK, anyway that's Otso Pakarinen. HE'S the guy you should be checking out. He's got a left hand like a left hook. Imagine a combination of Emerson prog, Zappa zaniness and Thomas Dolby lucious synth sounds all rolled into one highly flammable package. Sharp angles and sudden turns like a rollercoaster ride through texture land. Face melting stuff, my friend. My point is, put your money where your mouth is and give this guy a try before railing about how everything sounds the same these days.
I've been listening to "Frozen Paint on Boiling Canvas"andOtso has reallynailed it here....
I've always thoughthe was one of the better current keyboardists, but here he has displayed a great maturity and sense of balance...
His fiery twisting synth lines still scream by your ears, but he lets things develop a bit longer in one space before moving to the next amazing invention.
Heavy, creative, visionary, beautiful, ominous, luminous, melancholy, aggressive, fresh.
Music to get in touch with your inner mad scientist!
Oh, and don't forget to hold on tight when they strap you in.
