Description
Billy Kilson's BK Groove is a jazz, funk, fusion band whose music is comparable to Weather Report, Headhunters, Tony Williams' "Lifetime" or Chick Corea's "Return to Forever." Led by Kilson, a Grammy winning drummer, BK Groove is a musical melting pot of their many musical influences. They create a journey through old school funk, fusion and many facets of jazz. As the creative force behind BK Groove, Kilson combines the R&B and funk influences of his youth with his jazz enthusiasm and experience for a fresh new sound.
A former member of the Dave Holland Quintet, Kilson has appeared and/or recorded with many top jazz artists including Chris Botti, Bob James, Dianne Reeves, George Duke, Steps Ahead, James Moody, Ahmad Jamal and Kevin Mahogany. His live performance captivates audiences all over the world and he has received accolades both as an artist and a sideman. He has been featured in Modern Drummer, Drums & Percussion, Drummer, Drums Etc. as well as DownBeat.
While Ur Sleepin' weaves groove based songs of fusion and cool jazz in with funky guitars and special effects all laced together with interesting interludes that leads you from one musical experience to the next. Special guests on the project include Bob James and Dave Holland.
