Description
Karl Koerber is a songwriter and recording artist who lives near Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.
The songs on "Returning To You" touch on the universal themes of obsession, redemption, love and loss, death and life, joy and despair. The beautifully crafted lyrics are enlivened by rich melodies and musical arrangements ranging from a single guitar to a full band.
These songs were written by Karl Koerber over a period of years, and chronicle his struggle to find meaning in the events of his life and a world that can feel hostile and alien. The death of his wife from cancer, relationships, the angst of growing old, and the perpetuation of war and materialism provide some of the raw materials from which the poems are wrought. Behind the sometimes raw and painful emotions expressed in the songs, there is a message of hope and a sense of reaching out to a higher ideal that is accessible for spiritual sustenance. Irony and humour are often woven playfully through the lyrics, hinting of an outlook which isn't really as dark as might appear at first glance.
