Description
Tim Gerwing was born in Canada, but spent his early childhood in Germany. He started music lessons (on the glockenspiel) at age 4 and began classical piano one year later.
Piano studies continued in Canada throughout his teen years. However, the rigid classical world was confining, and this resulted in experimentation in jazz, electronic, new age, Far and Middle Eastern musical traditions. There was also a new interest in instruments such as guitar, flute, and percussion.
Tim bought his first synthesizer in 1988 and has since composed soundtracks for various film, theatre, and CBC television productions.
Summer of 2002 saw the release of his first solo album, "Being to Being". He has received international radio airplay in Canada, Japan, Holland, Australia, Poland, Russia and the U.S.A.
Tim has recently been performing Middle Eastern percussion with Aire Arabic/Flamenco Mediterranean Music Group and the Zeryab Ensemble in Vancouver, Canada, and also performing and studying in Japan.
