My Baby Loves That Stuff
The Roger Girke Band
This is a modern rhythm and blues powerhouse with strong vocals, two killer guitarists, and a veteran lineup of keyboards, horns, and super tight rhythm section. Their approach is totally original but always connected to the music's traditional roots.

Description
The Roger Girke Band's new CD "My Baby Loves That Stuff" on Teletone Records features 11 tracks (10 are original) covering lots of musical ground - Delta and Chicago Blues, New Orleans Funk, and much more.
The band is based in Wilmington, Delaware, and has been building a name for itself playing blues venues and festivals in the northeast United States for the past five years. Their first Teletone CD "Roger Girke and The Funky Twisters - We Got The Funky Blues" received rave reviews in major publications across the country. In their October 2002 issue, Blues Revue Magazine said: "This band deserves national attention".
While everyone in the band has awesome blues chops and enviable talent, it's the show stopping two guitar interplay that mesmerizes audiences wherever the Roger Girke Band plays.
Band leader, vocalist, and guitarist Roger Girke is a 25 year veteran of the east coast blues scene. His soulful vocal style evokes the great Stax/Volt masters, and his articulate guitar skills reflect such diverse influences as Jimmy Vaughan, Carlos Santana, Anson Funderburgh, T-Bone Walker, and Keb Mo. Guitarist Joe LaSorte has paid his dues for over 20 years playing around the USA (including a three year stint in Chicago with Sam Cockrell's band). His playing shows the influences of his long time heroes Albert Collins, Albert King, Robben Ford and Jeff Beck.
Girke and LaSorte have playing styles that compliment each other to a degree rarely seen in other blues bands. Check out how they trade off guitar solos in the new CD's opening track "Make It Funky". Girke simply burns the house down on the slow blues "Daddy", as well as on the modern blues rocker "Bulldozer Blues". LaSorte turns in a tasty performance with his solo playing on the title track "My Baby Loves That Stuff", and takes no prisoners on his extended excursion at the end of "Gettin' Back to New Orleans".
The band is rounded out by Ian Greaves (drums), Jimmy Pritchard (bass), Glenn Bickell (keyboards), and Pete Mayforth (sax), all masters of their instruments and veterans of the blues scene.
