Description
Painted On Blue, Sharon Falk's debut recording of thirteen original songs fuses her dual life as a singer/songwriter and a visual artist. Her lyrics evoke ideas that are a balance of opposites; with a nod to darkness, they lift the listener up to the place where hope lives. Falk's passionate voice is accompanied by her delicate fingerstyle guitar, and surrounded by the many colors and rhythms of instrumentalist John Guth, who also played on the recording.
In the songs of Painted On Blue, Sharon paints worlds and relationships against the backdrop of growing up in the wide horizons of the desert southwest, and years spent in New Orleans, and New York, where she now makes her home. Her paintings and her songs are about freedom and understanding one's own journey, and celebrating the power in each individual facing struggles of existence. With the appreciation of relationships and the small things that comprise a life, her message is to seek and treasure the unique story that is in each of us.
Falk has spent a decade of playing in clubs in New York and throughout the South. She has performed at The Turning Point, The Bitter End, Fast Folk Cafe, Kenny's Castaways, Speakeasy, Sine, Sun Mountain, and Centerfold Coffee House; and been a guest on live radio WBAI. She performed in the Songwriters Guild Showcase at the AES Convention at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, and at BMI's Collaborators Connection at the Bitter End. On tour Sharon has performed at The Bluebird Caf in Nashville, Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, The Down Home in Johnson City, Iroquois Club in Roanoke, Broadway Arts in Asheville, and Canal St. Tavern in Dayton.
