Description
GT harks from Manchester's urban outskirts, but colours his music with alternative experience behind the iron curtain, down under, and above the clouds. Graham Holli aka GT began producing the 'Live It All' album in September, with Alan Gregson at West Orange Studio, Preston. Here Decca notaries, Russel Watson, and Rick Guard polished their pearlers, and Corner Shop tinkered with their tackle, and even Badly Drawn Boy sketched out some early stuff. Meanwhile playing gigs across the NW from the Limelight Club in Crewe to Chicago Rock Caf in Lancaster, supported by appearances on Radio Merseyside, Radio Lancashire, GMR, and Bay FM, picked up some excellent reviews. Around Halloween a video for the Winning Your Heart track was shot on site in Atherton, Hindley, Delamere Forest and Rivington, featuring pointy hats and long noses. 19 tracks were completed by Christmas, on the strength of this an extended holiday was taken in Australia's heat. On return in March, further recording, inspired by Bush Fires and a new keyboard, expensively brought back on excess baggage, was completed for a total of 24 tracks, plus some alternative lyrical and melodic arrangements. From these, 14 tracks were selected for 'Live It All' - the 'Director's Cut', of varied style, tempo and content, but consistent greatness. Some tracks are melodic marvels, some have punky particulars, others feel beholden to Bach. Comparison is often draw to Depeche Mode, Bryan Ferry, and the Smiths by the freshly initiated.
The video has been taken by Granada for future productions, and ABC's Rage in Australia, the album is available through www.cottagerecords.com, www.cdbaby.com/gtrocks, www.holierthanthourecords.com and is the subject of licensing negotiations. Over the next few months there will be bookings in Leicester, Manchester, Liverpool, and Swansea to promote the CD, along with several radio interviews.
