Description
Gypsy is a uniquely gifted singer-songwriter and published poet. Her musical roots were deeply cultivated by her upbringing. She wrote her first song at the age of five while listening to her mother's "jam sessions" with the likes of Tag Lambert (lead guitarist for Bob Wills) among others. Her mother wrote and recorded country music and her uncle, Don Rollins wrote the smash hit, "The Race Is On" recorded by George Jones, Ricky Nelson and The Grateful Dead. Writing is in her blood and in her heart.
After attending University as a theatre arts and music major, Gypsy went on to audition for and was accepted into The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York. After living in Greenwich Village and singing at local clubs and open mics, Gypsy moved to L.A. to pursue a career in music and film, continued to write songs, record, perform vocals on other artists' projects, and act in commercials, music videos and films. Eventually, Gypsy joined the pop trio, Angels of Ecstasy (with Astrid Plane, formerly of Animotion) and Kelly Sullivan. She and Kelly then went on to form Zuzu's Petalz, performing their music in local LA clubs before Gypsy went solo.
Gypsy's debut album, "Heart of a Traveling Wind" is flavored with the guest performances of many talented musicians, including Ed Tree (Spencer Davis), Martyn LeNoble (Jane's Addiction, The Cult), Tony Sales (David Bowie), Rick Shlosser (Van Morrison, Jackson Browne) and David Palmer (Rod Stewart). Gypsy's influences include Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Maria McKee, Jewel, Bob Marley and others. Her songs are essentially her poems set to music with lilting, breathy and melancholy vocals amidst a folky-pop backdrop of music. She is performing throughout California, limited engagements in Arizona and Florida, festivals around the U.S., and is planning a European club tour in 2005.
Other news...

Gypsy has received airplay on Radio Golden Flash FM 104.30 in Belgium, on KPFK 90.7 FM & WPMD 1700 AM in Los Angeles, KUMN 89.9 FM in New Mexico, KAOS in Washington, CJSF Radio 90.1 FM in British Columbia, RelaxRadio in Australia and many other stations throughout the U.S. She has also received a nomination for Best Album and Best Pop Song on internet radio station, WWW.URSCENE.COM, with over 500,000 listeners.
