Description
"My first public 'performance' was singing karaoke to a transsexual emcee named Jackie."
Janson began at ten with opera lessons, but it was exposure to artists such as Jeff Buckley, Bjork, and Fleetwood Mac that inspired her to pursue songwriting. After graduating college she sought a creative outlet and taught herself to play guitar and piano. After writing several songs, she began playing coffeehouses and clubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. Seasoned musicians Paul Gonzalez (Chaka Kahn/Louie Shelton) and JB Eckel (WAR/Santana) offered assistance recording and producing Janson's two EP's The Same Dust (2000), and Red Flags (2002).
"In under one year, I've 'fallen' in and out of love twice, worked five jobs, lived in two homes, and kept a band of four grown men together playing music about my crazy female whims."
Leaving LA behind in 2002, Janson packed keyboard and guitar in her car, and drove to Texas looking for new musical inspiration. In Austin, she put together a new band and has played clubs, festivals, and benefit concerts. She has received airplay on Austin college, national public, and commercial radio. Janson is currently recording and producing a full-length album entitiled "the three p's." Release is scheduled for September 2004.
