Description
This Debut CD includes 14 songs written by this real Westerner and Rancher from Alberta, Canada.
***** Jim is a Top Ten Nominee for 2004 Rising-Star-of-the-Year "Will Rogers Award" with The Academy of Western Artists, USA. *****
Jim has his heart, soul, and daily activities in the western lifestyle. Jim is a singer/songwriter whose music is dedicated to cowboying, ranching, farming and rural life ... the values & traditions. Jim writes about the people, the land, the animals, and their relationships ... songs from cows chewin' cud to friends buryin' friends. He is an artist whose passion for music shines through in his performances ... you don't just listen to Jim's material, you see and feel it.
Jim started playing guitar at age 9 and sang solo in his first festival at age 6. He was a singer/songwriter in a Canadian band that enjoyed many successes including being chosen as a finalist in a national TV "Search for Stars". His ol' band also had the privilege of being the Opening-act for singers Kenny Rogers, B.J. Thomas and Tommy James.
Jim has written many corporate and sporting event theme songs over the years... that's why his music is more than just the "three-chord" tradional western/country music ... he artistically combines his way of life as a rancher plus his non-western musical influences into his unique Western style. If you're lookin for twangy and yodelin ... this ain't it .... but this boy can sing and write. His musical creations are cowboy and cattleman to the core.
Jim was honoured in 2002 as one of 25 international artists selected to perform at the annual Alberta Foundation for the Arts Touring Alliance Showcase in Banff, Canada.
Jim's primary performances are at Cowboy Festivals and Gatherings throughout Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. The Bar H CD is receiving significant air play on dedicated Western radio stations and syndicated Cowboy radio programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
He and his wife Marion live on a small ranch between Okotoks & High River, Alberta, Canada, and raise registered Hereford cattle and do a bit of custom haying as well. Jim is a real family man, with 5 children aged 11-21.
