Description
Starrfadu is a three-piece band, made up of Austin Hartley
(lead vocals/guitar), Brian Moody (drums/percussion), and
David Martin (bass/add. vocals), based out of Springfield,
Missouri. The band was formed in August of 2001, and has
been playing surrounding Coffeehouses, Youth Groups, and
Universities for the past three years. Their style has been
compared to the likes of Coldplay, Pedro the Lion, (early) Radiohead, and Sixpense Non the Richer. Though on their album releases you'll hear full orchastration, their live shows take on more of an intimate, acoustic-driven sound, with emphasis on audience interaction. It's not uncommon for the band to introduce audience members to other audience members, thus creating a 'family-felt' atmosphere.
In 2002 the band released their first EP, entitled 'The Joys in Feeling Sorry for Yourself;' which received rave reviews by
fans and critics alike. Two of their songs were featured as "Track of the Day" on Garageband.com (an online music-based
rate & review website) in both the Alternative and Folk categories.
Their local appeal landed them a spot at both the 2003 & 2004 Revolution Music Festivals - in which they were the only 'unsigned' band to play. They've also been included in several other large
youth-oriented events around the area as well.
In March 2005 the band released this first full-length album, entitled 'A Narrow Road to Silence;' recorded with Oran Thornton (who has recorded with Flick, Bleach, and The Professional Americans, to name a few). Enjoy!
