Description
Brought up in the Baptist church, David started playing piano and singing at age five. He studied clasical piano and organ until his early teens. Once he discovered the keyboard styles of Ramsey Lewis and the vocal stylings of Stevie Wonder, jazz and R&B became his primary focus. Having the ability to both play keyboards and sing created many job opportunities for David. He did vocal and instrumental sessions for Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and worked as a keyboardist for Anita Baker, Jeffery Osborne, Rita Coolege and many more. Between touring and intermittant recording sessions, Swanson worked in jazz clubs throughout Asia and Europe. His vocals shifted to more standard jazz yet retaining his silky like Stevie Wonder smoothness. His repetoire and style has been compared to the likes of the late Bobby Short as Swanson is able to reinvent the big band era of the 30's and 40's and transition into current day contemporary artist arrangements such as " Just The Way You Are" and "I Just Called To Say I Love You". "Dinner At Eight#1" is the first of three volumes totaling thirty familiar songs by well known artists, all arranged and performed in smooth and easy listening style by David. Enjoy all three volumes as even now volume four is in the making.
