Description
The Vandelays, of Madison, WI, are a rock/alt. country band. Blending traditional styles with modern arrangements and instrumentation, the Vandelays write from the heart, and truly put so much of themselves into their songs. Working long hours in the studio over the last year, they put together their first indie c.d., "A New Day". Tracks range from straight country to balls-out hard rock. Synths, organ, and Rhodes play a key role in our studio work, reaching back to the early tone qualities we all love. Moog, syn-clav, ARP, Odyssey. Monophonic, modulated synth layers underscore much of the "A New Day" material. Tight vocal harmonies bring out an old country and bluegrass feel that is consistent throughout the album (even on the heavier material). These songs were all originally written as bluegrass/old country tunes. Karol Niemann contributes her strong vocals on 3 tracks. Singing lead vocals on "Mend", she shows her abilities to belt out a rock song and also create an emotional edge that cuts. We'll be hearing much more of Karol on our forthcoming album, "Pluto". So, check us out, send us an email, and tell us what you think.
