Description
The Little Country Giants, Russell Cook and Cameron Cook, play music that focuses on simple structures and solid songwriting.
A main focus of the band is on harmony singing, the pair forming a seamless blend that hearkens back to their family roots in Appalachia and Mississippi. Their songs are based in a folk and mountain tradition, with a healthy dose of that intersection of early jazz and country music. Their writing draws on the basic elements of melody, harmony, and lyrical integrity, making their songs timeless and able to hold up to repeated listening.
Their second album, Breaking Hearts & Living Free is a diverse but connected collection of songs of love and heartbreak, ranging from old-style murder ballads to jukebox country about highways and honky-tonks. By turns fiery, haunting, and beautiful, it's an album that you'll want to keep in your player for a while.
