The new CD "BLASTED" is HERE!!!! Go to cdbaby.com/lencat4 to preview!!! (But first BUY THIS ONE!!)
Imagine you're running through the forest totally lost. Yer butt naked and you have no idea where you are. It's already freezing cold but now it's starting to get dark. Your running, yelling for help but, as far as you know, you're miles from anyone or any civilization. You're starving. You realize that once the sun goes down the temp could drop below zero and yer as good as dead. You start to panic. There's nothing but sparse trees rocks and steep hills. You're running at full speed and with minimal visibility left, you trip over a massive 600 lb. moose carcass. With you're bare hands and teeth you begin ripping at the great animal's belly. You rip it's intestines out and throw them aside. Shivering violantly , as the last bit of light fades, you rip off a piece of fresh meat and devour it. Then you climb inside the now partially empty moose and pull it closed around yourself. Slowly your shivers begin to disapate. You've never been religeous but you pray to God to let you live another day.
You awaken to the sound of snarling wolves gnawing on the carcass. Gripped in fear, you scream at the top of your lungs and burst out of the great animals gut. The sun is peaking up from over a mountain and you see that there are 4 or 5 of them. Startled, the wolves back away but only for a second. Covered in moose blood, you take off running but they are hot on your tail. You leap over a rock and start heading down a hill. One of the hounds takes a piece out of your hide. The hill becomes extremely steep and you fall into a roll. Then it gets so steep that you are plummeting out of control. 2 of the frothing wolves cannot negotiate the grade and pull up while 2 others lose control and begin to rapidly roll along side of you. Rocks and limbs crack you all over your body. You fight to remain conscious. Suddenly, the pain stops. You realize that you are now air borne. You've fallen off a cliff. You see one of the wolves falling along side of you. You realize this may be the last moment of your life and you contort your body to try to see in the direction which you believe to be down. Just as you see the color blue, you splash into a very deep lake.
As you look up you can see the sun shimmering off the top of the water. You look to your side and see a wolf struggling to swim. You pull yourself to the top and then swim to the bank. You look to the other side of the lake and see the wolf pull himself out of the water and limp away. For the first time in what seems like an eternity, you breath a sigh of relief.
That's what listening to this album is like.
What you see here is 3rd solo cd by Len Callo. This genre jumping music may tweak your nerve endings, twist your nibblets, make you laugh, make you think, frighten you or offend your neighbor, but remember this: it's the culmination of a long and twisted life experience and given from the soul. If you like it, tell a friend. If you don't like it.... tell an enemy.
BIO
In 1980, in the SF bay area, Len Callo Joined with Ed Kane and Jeff Williams to form a band called "the ASSASSINS". Under the management of Bill McKay, this band, performing original hard rock and BizZAReNESS, became wildly popular in the area. After the tragic demise of the Assassins in 1983, Len joined up with another local favorite: "MINORS IN POSSESSION" to write and perform more original music. One day(Sept. 17 '83 to be exact) after rehersals with this band he got his good time drinkin' buddies, Hair Bear and K-Dog to pick up the bass and drums and began playing his original solo songs. They jokingly refered to themselves as a POWER TRIO.
By '85 Len moved on to a progressive metal band called "BARR SINISTER" all the while continuing to rehearse and hone the now officially named "POWER TTTRIO". In '86 Barr Sinister disbanded and the TTTRIO began performing locally. They quickly gained attention for their wild antics and crazy perverse rockin' songs. By the end of '87 they were joined by former "Assassin" Ed Kane and went to Amsterdam and became part of the music scene there. After 2 years off and on in A-Dam and Germany the TTTRIO, battered, tattered, bruised and abused by the wild underground experience, came home and took a long break from the music scene.
In 1990 Len built a studio in the Bay Area. The trio re-grouped and began writing and playing new songs. They still played the occasional Bay Area gig but, rather than hit the weekly grind of playing all the Bay Area clubs on a regular basis, they would get on their Harley's and ride up and down the California coast, Delta or into the Sierra Mountains. There they would check into small towns and howl with the locals at taverns and pubs, sitting in with the local bands and goin' nuts.
In '99 Len joined South Bay rockers, "PHANTOM 57" and began gigging again regulary. In 2000 Len made a solo cd of some old original songs just for posterity. The cd's were snapped up at local shows. In 2002 a second cd was made with the same results. In 2003 "Phantom 57" disbanded and the POWER TTTRIO began performing again on a regular basis. The locals all know what to expect and turn out at the local shit-holes to drink and party and hear original music that they know they can't hear anywhere else.
DEVIL'S PECKER ROAD
In 1827 from the mountain to the town
The people there would build a road for going up and down
but greedy Jim O'Flanery made the trestle much to week
and 7 townsmen perished falling 700 feet
The people they took umbrage with old O'Flanery
So they hung him from his trestle for all the town to see
He swore as he was dyin' there was one thing he would do
"When I get back from Hell I'll stick the Devils dick in you!!!"
(so they called it) Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker Road
7 and O'Flanery on Devils Pecker Road
In 1847 on the Mountain they found "GOLD!"
but mysteries would happen there on Devils Pecker Road
5 would die by fire The quake took 40 more
Any man who touched the gold paid for it with his soul
on Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker Road
The ghost of old O'Flanery Haunts Devil's Pecker Road
Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker Road
"Touch the gold and lose your soul!" on Devils Pecker Road
In 1957 Betty Sue met Bobby Joe
They drove up Devils Pecker just to be alone
While humping in the back seat they felt an awful chill
Then their Chevy drove away with no one at the wheel
Down Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker Road
the Ghost of old Jim O'Flanery on Devils Pecker Road
Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker
Betty Sue and Bobby died on Devils Pecker Road
Devils Pecker Road, Devils Pecker Road
The Devil and O'Flanery drive Devils Pecker Road
