Description
LISA ZANE began singing for the public seven years ago at Les Deux Cafes in Los Angeles where for six months she sang weekly to an ever growing crowd. In New York, she found a home at Joe's Pub and the Cutting Room. Her style, best described as torch, includes a repertoire of Spanish and French songs as well as many obscure and beloved American standards. Lisa's deft proficiency at a wide variety of song styles and languages has made her popular with musicians, and she has drawn such luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Grace Jones and Harry Belafonte to hear her. Three years ago, Lisa began to compose and perform her own music, a unique blend of American genres laced with Latin and European influences.
Last August, Lisa made her first record, which she produced with internationally acclaimed Flamenco guitarist Romero. On this record, she is supported by Romero's magnificent guitar playing, as well as upright bass, percussion and classical violin. Lisa's songs and compositions are dramatic and transportive, and the record offers a vast array of culture and musicality.
