BLACK BIRD STITCHES
talismanic dirt folk
Memorable vocals weave together songstories like charms built up from the ground. A blend of guitar, harmonium, bodhran and flea market treasures makes a belly warmin' musical stew, mmm-hmm good food, yah.
Some Words from the Bird...
"Throw together some gypsy, hardcore, bluegrass, indian, old time and that would be a pretty good call of influences on me. I play music because it rouses my soul to the core and back. It's wondrous, beautiful, heart wrenching, ridiculous, unifying and enduring. In the end, music moves oceans so I'll be here with my goggles strapped on, ridin' the waves, playin' and singin' for and from the deep."
It all started while sitting next to her Grandpa as he played ragtime piano, finger nails clicking on the keys. The rest of the time, she was basically raised on bluegrass. From the ages of 11 to 14 she played in a bluegrass band with her dad, brother, another guy and a rotating guitar player (reminiscent of Spinal Tap's drummers). Since then, she's been in a variety of musical collaborations ranging from a ladies folk trio to a couple of progrock bands to an improvisational chill room electronica group to an avant-folk duo to euro-american roots music to her current endeavor of talismanic dirt folk. She has performed on several cd releases including "The Monkey Puzzle Tree" by Joanne Rand, "Dirty Overhauls" by Spiral Bound, and "Family Albulm" by Faun Fables.
Black Bird Stitches inspires a real sense of soul through music, stories and the mystery that binds us all.
